How can it be that doing something as simple as imagining something could bring about so much success? It seems like a sci-fi movie, but this is your real life!!
First off, let me be clear on what I mean by “success”. I’m talking about everything from successfully cleaning the bathroom, to reaching your highest hopes and dreams!
Visualization will give you a huge boost in momentum to achieve your goals! (And I consider a daily to-do list a “goal” for the day, would you agree?)
Now, let’s ask the question: Why is visualization so special?
The simple answer is…… ok, I tricked you..… There is no simple answer! Haha, but I can give you 3 components of what goes into it, making it so amazing.
1. God Basically Used It When He Created The Earth.
Moses 3:5 says “…For I, the Lord God, created all things…spiritually before they were naturally upon the face of the earth…”
To create something “spiritually” means to create it in your mind. It’s the thought, the idea, the plan… whatever you want to call it, and when you take the time to think through the details, you are fine tuning your creation.
Have you ever thought of achieving your goals as a creation? You can create a clean bathroom, you can create a trip to the grocery store, you can create your healthy body, you can create your financial situation, you can create your future –whatever you want it to look like!
We are going to be talking about creation a lot because YOU are the creator of YOUR life! Whether you create it passively or on purpose, you are creating every day.
2. Science Even Agrees!
(And when God and science line up, who can argue?)
I will admit that I’m no brain scientist. Even though I’m fascinated by the marvelousness of the human brain, and I want to know how it works in regards to… well, everything, I seem to blank out every time I read or listen to the words: reticular activating system, neuroplasticity, synaptic connections, and the like.
Instead of a weakness, let’s call it a strength; because now I will be able to offer you the most simple, easy to understand explanation! You’re welcome, haha.
Basically, every time you do something repeatedly, your brain does a bunch of fancy stuff to make it easier and easier to do that thing again… something about neural pathways, lol.
This is why when you practice the piano, a dance, or a sport, it becomes more natural and easier to do.
When you attentively visualize something, you strengthen the pathways in your brain and it becomes easier for you to do it for reals. This is not hokey-pokey!
Our brains (as smart as they are) cannot tell the difference between an actual real-life experience and the (seemingly real) visualization of that same event.
When we have an experience, and when we visualize the same thing, we activate similar brain circuits. It’s just a scientific fact. (This is why we are very careful about the movies and video games that our children view and play.)
3. It Has Soooooo Many Benefits
Of course the benefits will vary depending on how/how long/how often you are visualizing, but here are several perks to get you thinking of future awesomeness:
- Increase your motivation
- Enhance memory
- Heighten performance
- Gain confidence
- Reduce anxiety
- Clear your mind
- Relieve stress
- Improve muscle strength
- Accelerate healing
- Decrease pain
- Spark inspiration
- Boost mood
- Achieve your dreams and goals
That’s more than even I realized! I would like to highlight the benefits that I have personally seen shine in my own life. If I were to pick one, I would say “achieve your dreams and goals”, but that’s just the fruit of many other benefits occurring.
If you visualize yourself succeeding, then you will feel more confident.
Feeling confident will boost your motivation.
With a boost in motivation, you will surely take the next step in achieving your goals.
It is also essential to keep stress and anxiety at bay as you follow a new path into the unknown; and to have a clear mind invites more inspiration to follow your dreams! It is all beautifully connected, and the fruit of achieving your dreams is sweeter than everything combined!
Conclusion
I have used visualization to create a tidy home (daily goal), and to create this blog (huge dream).
Several times as I was rocking my baby to sleep, I would sit there and visualize exactly what I was going do after I put him down and walked out of his room. I wasn’t necessarily having a “visualization session”, I didn’t really even know that much about visualization at the time. I was just “making a plan for myself”, because I knew that being as tired as I was, if I didn’t have a plan, I would just flop down on the couch and lose the rest of my afternoon.
So for example, I would think: “First I will walk into my room and take my laundry basket down stairs and start a load of laundry (And I was watching myself do it, not just imagining a to-do list. I thought that would help me remember my plan.) Then I saw myself go upstairs and take the garbage out, then sweep the floor. And from there, declutter the kitchen counters.
I was amazingly surprised at how swiftly all that happened for reals, just like I had planned. It was better than any to-do list I had ever made myself.
As for using visualization to create this blog… that is a longer story. In short, it consisted of imagining what I wanted it to be. What it would look like, how it would serve you, who would read it, how much I would LOVE writing, and anything else I could think of!
I don’t really “visualize” the conventional way (that looks like meditating), I just get excited about what I’m creating, and enjoy imagining! Sometimes I leave my eyes open, and other times I close them. Sometimes I keep myself awake at night for wayyyyy too long, and other times I just have a quick passing picture go through my head.
Whether you want to achieve something huge, or just want more success in your daily actions, I would highly recommend you try visualization. I have seen the benefits in my life, and I know it will help you too!
I’m curious to know… is this new for you? Do you have any questions about it? Or are you already on the same page as me? If so, how has visualization helped you succeed? Please share in the comments so others can also benefit from your testimonial!
Sending my love and prayers for you to succeed!

This is SO GOOD!!! I remember learning the power of visualization years ago. I remember hearing once… to visualize an orange car. You’ll see an orange car today. I mean… how often do you see ORANGE CARS? Well I was skeptical but visualized it and literally saw an orange car while on my way home from the grocery store.
That’s awesome! …now I want to visualize an orange car, haha, I’ll let you know if I see one!
I loved your comments about God visualizing the creation. Wow! A lot was accomplished there so who knows what we can do. Our thoughts have great power and visualizing is just one way to have our thoughts be more positive.
Oooh, I love the idea to use visualization to have positive thoughts!
As I thought about this post I realized that I have used visualization in the past without really knowing I was doing it.
It really has worked for me, just think now consciously using it what I will be able to do!
You are a natural!!!! And now you can really take off! 🙂
